Getting a Good Deal – The Huawei Ascend P1 S vs. The Motorola Motosmart

Getting a good deal on a phone is a pretty high priority for most of us when we go out shopping for a new device. Phones can be expensive, particularly top of the line models. However, some of us aren’t necessarily looking for top of the line, we’re just looking for functional and affordable. There are options out there that don’t cost a bundle though, you just have to know what’s the better deal. The problem is that is can be hard to tell which model is better than another. We took the Huawei Ascend P1 S and put it in a head to head test against the Motorola Motosmart to find out how they compared. These are both 3.5G devices, and are widely available through most mobile service operators. The Huawei comes in generally a little more expensive than the Motosmart, but is still very affordable. The question is, whether it’s worth paying those extra few pounds for the Huawei, or if the Motorola Motosmart is a better deal. Read on to find out the answer…

Reasons to Think About the Huawei Ascend P1 S…

The main reason to consider the Huawei is that it has a far superior screen. It comes with a 4.3 inch display, rather than the 3.5 inch screen on the Motorola. It’s also a Super AMOLED screen, rather than the older TFT LCD screen on the Motosmart, making it brighter and more colourful. Plus, the display has three and a half times higher resolution and fifty per cent more PPI (pixels per inch), making it more vivid and better defined than the display on the Motorola. Double the RAM makes the Ascend more responsive and better able to handle multi-tasking than the Motorola. And the built in camera is far superior, 8 MP as opposed to the 3 MP on the Motorola makes for better quality and more fine detail in your photos. The Ascend has an awful lot more internal storage space, coming with 4 GB of internal memory rather than the mere 168 MB you get with the Motosmart. That’s a lot more music, games, videos and photos that can be stored on your device. Finally, the Ascend also comes in thinner and around thirty per cent generally smaller than the Motorola…

Reasons to Think About the Motorola Motosmart…

The Motorola has the same processor as the Huawei, making it equally powerful. But other than that, it doesn’t really compare to the Ascend at all. The only advantage that it has is that it’s slightly lighter, weighing in at 115 g rather than the 130 g of the Ascend. But that’s mostly due to the fact that it has a far smaller screen, therefore can afford to carry less weight.

And the Better Deal is…

Obviously, the Huawei Ascend P1 S is a far better deal than the Motorola Motosmart. For just a few pounds more, you get an awful lot more phone; the better screen quality and the increased storage space are more than worth the small increase in price. We recommend the Ascend as a great bargain.
