Two Mid-Range Smartphones You Might Not Have Thought Of – Panasonic Eluga Vs Alcatel One Touch 916
The Panasonic Eluga has several great features making it a really a sought after mid-range handset. Although the operating system is the Gingerbread version of Android and some may feel let down by this it still works perfectly well and has plenty to offer the user. The complete package is fabulous, the design of the handset is wonderful and it is filled with many great features and functions that you will soon forget that the Android is an older version. The is no memory card slot with this handset though, so those who like to use their smartphones for downloading apps, playing games, storing music for playback later or taking a lot of photos, may find that the 8GB internal memory is really not enough. For ordinary users though this should be plenty for average day to day use.
The screen is 4.3 inches and offers good clear images. The battery life, while not remarkable is enough for a day or twos standard use before it needs to be recharged. The handset is waterproof so if it is dropped in a puddle, or down the toilet which happens more than you may think, then the handset remains usable which is a massive plus point as handsets can be costly to replace after they have been water damaged as this usually renders then completely useless. The camera feature is one of the highlights of this handset as it is great for both still images and video shots. It has a resolution of 8 Megapixels meaning the images are sharper than on some other models.
Alcatel One touch 916
The Alcatel range is perhaps not one you would consider buying when in the market for a smartphone. The brand name is not as well-known as some of the others; however, to walk past this handset without checking it out should be a crime. Boasting a QWERTY keyboard giving the overall design a look no too dissimilar to Blackberry, the Alcatel one Touch 916 is a solid, but stylish design that would look great in any hand. Although for some it may be a little too bulky it is actually fairly light at 126grams.
There is no front facing camera with the Alcatel One Touch 916, but if you do not tend to video call many people, you can easily live without this feature. The camera is a good 5MP resolution offering clearer sharper images and strong colours. The built in flash means that on days when the light is poor, or for taking evening shots, your images will be just as stunning as day time photos. A highlight of this handset is that is quad band. Consider the reasonable price of the phone, knowing that you can use it where ever you travel as long as there is a GSM network gives peace of mind to the user.
