Two Sexy Phones – The Pantech Discover Vs. The HTC Droid DNA
There are just so many great Orange, Tesco and 3 phone deals to choose from nowadays, that making a sensible, informed decision can seem very difficult. It is tempting to choose a phone based on its looks, because we all want something that looks great and impresses people. However, even that doesn’t really help, because there are a lot of really good looking phones on the market two.
Today we’re looking at two of these, the Pantech Discover and the HTC Droid DNA. They both look great, they’re both Android phones, and though the Droid DNA does run slightly more expensive they are both very reasonably priced too. So which one should you choose? We put them to the test to find out how the compare and what exactly their differences are. If you’re in the market for a new mobile device, then keep reading to find out which of these two comes out on top and gets our seal of recommendation.
Why You Should Get a Pantech Discover…
The Discover really is a great little phone, one of the best in its price bracket, and it has a few advantages. It has faster maximum data speeds. In general, faster data speeds result in quicker downloads and faster opening of web pages. You also get a much better and higher resolution camera on the Discover. It comes equipped with a massive 12.6 MP device, as opposed to the standard 8 MP camera on the Droid. This means that photos taken on the Discover are noticeably better quality and have more fine detail than those taken on the HTC. Finally, the Discover comes in a little smaller than the HTC, only by around ten per cent, but that does make it just a little more portable.
What the HTC Droid DNA Can Do…
Obviously, the Droid has a few advantages of its own though. First up, there’s its screen. The display on the Droid has a massive six times higher screen resolution as well as two and a half times more PPI (pixels per inch). This means that the picture quality on the HTC is noticeably clearer, sharper and brighter than that of the Pantech Discover. Secondly, although both these phones are Androids, they do run different versions of the operating system. The Pantech runs the older 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich version, whereas the Droid has the 4.1 Jelly Bean version. In general, a newer operating system version means a little more speed and more stability, with less chance of your device crashing or freezing.
Which is the Better Deal?
Tough choice, they are both pretty great devices. The display quality on the HTC Droid DNA far exceeds that of the Pantech, and really is very noticeably different. However, the camera on the Discover is far superior to that of the HTC. In the end our recommendation goes to the Droid. It has better screen quality as well as having a more modern operating system. But that’s with a small caveat. If you use your phone for taking lots of photos, then the Pantech Discover is going to be a better buy for you.
